The HWY 62 Open Studio Arts Tours is an annual multi-disciplinary desert-wide open studio art tour.
The concept of open studio art tours in itself is a fairly common thing: in our desert environment with questionable GPS, hand painted or missing road signs, and vast vistas to the edge of the earth the open studio art tour becomes an extraordinary thing. The artists here have chosen a world like no other, in which to create their own.
Now in its 20th year, there are 165 artists showing across 8 desert communities.
Printed catalogs are now available at retail/commercial locations across the desert + at info centers: Coyote Cone, ZZIEE Ceramics, Moonwind Trading Co, Visit 29 Visitors Center

Following CDC and state guidelines as of July 27, 2021: To maximize protection for our volunteers and community please wear a mask while inside the galleries, even if you are vaccinated.
If you missed reading our August Newsflash, I wanted to let you know that the MBCAC has decided not to renew our lease at Gallery 62. Due to the rise in rent prices, fiscal instability caused by the pandemic and lack of financial support from state, regional and local funders, we do not have the budget to operate two galleries. While I am sad that we have to close the doors at Gallery 62 in November, I am hopeful that we can continue the MBCAC mission at JTAG by combining the focus of both spaces into one cohesive initiative that fits the needs of our community of artists. The board is still planning how this transition will work out, so please have patience as we figure this all out. You can read our President Marcia Geiger's message here to learn more. If you are curious about how you can help I encourage you to renew your memberships, ask friends to become members, make a donation, participate in our upcoming call for work or simply show up and support our programming. Community is what matters most to me and without being present in our spaces and participating in our programming, our community will slowly dissolve.
