Tim Murdoch

Tim Murdoch’s works are brought about through the action of collecting, processing and forming sand. Mimicking a miners obsession, Murdoch painstakingly divides the grains of sand to collect one of the most abundant materials on the planet, rust. Through a violent act of reverse entropy, he then casts iron diamonds. Value is determined by structures of power. Murdoch’s diamonds question these structures and subvert the forms of value, mining the obvious.
